Questions You Might Have
Getting Started
-
The first step is to book a free 30-minute consultation.
This is a relaxed, no-pressure conversation where we'll talk about what's bringing you to counselling, answer any questions you have and see whether we feel like a good fit to work together.
If you'd like to continue, we'll arrange your first online session. If not, there's absolutely no obligation.
Finding the right counsellor matters, and I want you to feel comfortable making that decision.
-
Working together is a collaborative process. My role isn't to tell you what to do or have all the answers. Instead, I offer a calm, supportive space where you can slow down, make sense of your experiences and explore whatever feels important to you.
Some sessions may feel reflective, others emotional, and sometimes we might even laugh together. We'll work at your pace, following what feels most helpful for you rather than a fixed agenda.
Above all, I want you to leave each session feeling heard, understood and a little less alone with whatever you're carrying.
-
Your first session is about getting to know one another.
We'll spend some time exploring what's brought you to counselling, what you'd like support with and what you hope to gain from our work together. You don't need to tell me everything straight away, and there's no pressure to share more than feels comfortable.
It's also an opportunity for you to ask questions and get a feel for how I work. Building a trusting therapeutic relationship takes time, and we'll move at a pace that feels right for you.
-
There's no set number of sessions because everyone is different.
Some people come for support around a specific issue over a shorter period of time, while others choose longer-term counselling to explore deeper patterns or ongoing challenges.
We'll regularly review how things are going together, and you can decide what's right for you throughout the process.

Yes. I’m a fully qualified counsellor with a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
My training included both academic study and extensive supervised clinical practice with clients. I continue to undertake regular supervision and professional development as part of working safely and ethically.
You can find my BACP registration details on their public register using my membership number.
About Therapy
-
I offer integrative counselling, which means I draw on different therapeutic approaches to suit you as an individual, rather than expecting you to fit into one way of working.
Person-centred therapy sits at the heart of my practice, creating a warm, accepting and non-judgemental space where you can explore whatever is on your mind. Alongside this, I may bring in ideas from other therapeutic approaches where they're helpful, always tailoring our work to your needs, goals and pace.
Therapy isn't one-size-fits-all, and neither is the way I work.
-
For many people, yes.
Research has shown that online counselling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy for a wide range of concerns. Many clients also find it easier to open up from the comfort and familiarity of their own home.
Sessions take place via a secure video platform, and you'll receive a link to join before each session. All you'll need is a quiet, private space, a stable internet connection and somewhere you feel comfortable talking.
-
Not at all.
You don't need a diagnosis or a major life crisis to benefit from counselling. Many people come because they're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious or simply want somewhere to think out loud without worrying about being judged.
If something has been weighing on your mind, that's reason enough.
-
That's completely okay.
Many people worry they'll arrive and not know where to begin or feel they should have everything worked out before their first session.
You don't need to have the right words or even know exactly why you've reached out. Therapy is a conversation, and together we'll find a place to start.
You can simply come as you are.

I believe that everyone should have access to support, regardless of their financial circumstances. If cost feels like a barrier, please feel free to mention it during our consultation. Where possible, I may be able to offer a limited number of reduced-fee spaces depending on availability.
I'll explain everything during your consultation so you know exactly what to expect.
-
The easiest way to get in touch is by completing the contact form on my website or emailing me directly at hello@thelisteningbooth.co.uk.
I aim to respond to all enquiries within one working day.
If you're unsure whether counselling is right for you, you're very welcome to get in touch with any questions before booking. There's no pressure, and I'm always happy to help if I can.
-
Yes.
Confidentiality is a fundamental part of counselling, and everything you share with me is treated with care and respect.
There are a small number of legal and ethical situations where confidentiality may need to be broken, such as if there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else. Wherever possible, I would always aim to discuss this with you first.
I'll explain confidentiality in more detail before we begin working together, so you'll always know where you stand.

The Listening Booth was built around one simple belief: everyone deserves a space where they feel truly heard.
I know that reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step. My aim is to create a space where you don't need to have the right words, all the answers or even know exactly where to begin.
Rather than offering advice or trying to fix you, I'll walk alongside you with warmth, curiosity and compassion as we make sense of your experiences together.
Every person is different, so I tailor our work to you, always keeping your unique experiences at the heart of what we do.
