Terms & Conditions
The Listening Booth Ltd
Last updated: 29/08/2026
These Terms & Conditions explain the basis on which services are offered by The Listening Booth Ltd.
Please read them before booking a consultation or counselling session. If you choose to begin counselling with me, you will also receive a separate counselling agreement containing more detailed information about how we will work together.
About The Listening Booth
The Listening Booth Ltd provides professional counselling services to adults online across the UK.
Counsellor: Emily Booth
BACP membership: 01025844
Registered office: 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX
Email: hello@thelisteningbooth.uk
Company number: 17418368
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with its Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
The Listening Booth is not an emergency or crisis service.
Initial consultation
I offer a free 30-minute initial consultation before counselling begins.
This gives us an opportunity to talk briefly about what has brought you to counselling, what you are hoping for and whether working together feels like a good fit.
There is no obligation to book counselling following the consultation, and an initial consultation does not guarantee that I will be able to offer ongoing counselling.
If I feel that another service or practitioner may be better suited to your needs, I will discuss this with you where appropriate.
Counselling sessions
Counselling sessions take place online using Microsoft Teams.
Sessions last 50 minutes and cost £55 per session.
You do not have to attend counselling weekly. We can discuss a frequency that works for you and is appropriate for the work we are doing together.
Booking and payment
Initial consultations can be booked through the website using Calendly. Ongoing counselling appointments are agreed directly between us.
Payment can be made by bank transfer or, where preferred, using a Stripe payment link.
Payment is due at least 24 hours before your appointment. If payment has not been made in advance, payment must be made at the start of the appointment before the counselling session begins.
Counselling sessions will not go ahead without payment.
Cancellations and missed sessions
I understand that sometimes plans need to change.
If you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment, please give at least 48 hours' notice.
Sessions cancelled or rearranged with less than 48 hours' notice may be charged at the full session fee. If you do not attend an agreed appointment without letting me know, the full session fee may also be payable.
If I need to cancel a session, you will not be charged and I will aim to offer an alternative appointment where possible.
Full details of cancellation arrangements will also be included in your counselling agreement.
Online counselling
As counselling takes place online, you will need a suitable device, a reliable internet connection and, wherever possible, a private space where you feel comfortable speaking freely.
I will also take reasonable steps to provide sessions from a private and appropriate environment.
Occasionally, technology fails. If we lose connection during a session, we will try to reconnect using Microsoft Teams. If this is not possible, I will contact you using the contact details you have provided so that we can agree what to do next.
Counselling sessions are not recorded by The Listening Booth, and I ask that you do not record sessions either unless we have expressly agreed otherwise in advance.
Confidentiality
Your confidentiality is an important part of our work together. What you share with me during counselling is treated confidentially.
There are limited circumstances in which I may need to share information, including where there is a serious concern about your safety or the safety of another person, where safeguarding concerns arise, or where I am legally required to disclose information.
Where possible and appropriate, I would aim to discuss a disclosure with you before it takes place.
The limits of confidentiality will be discussed with you before counselling begins and explained further in your counselling agreement.
Information about how your personal data is collected, stored and used can be found in the Privacy Policy.
Clinical supervision
As part of safe and ethical counselling practice, I undertake regular clinical supervision in accordance with BACP requirements.
I may discuss aspects of my client work in supervision. Supervision is confidential and, wherever possible, I will avoid using information that unnecessarily identifies you.
Emergencies and crisis support
The Listening Booth does not provide an emergency, crisis or 24-hour support service.
If you need urgent help or believe that you or somebody else is in immediate danger, please contact the appropriate emergency or urgent healthcare service.
Please do not use the website contact form or email address for emergency support, as messages are not continuously monitored.
Ending counselling
You can choose to end counselling at any time.
Where possible, I encourage us to discuss ending our work together so that we have an opportunity to reflect on the work we have done and bring the counselling relationship to an appropriate close.
There may also be circumstances in which I need to suggest ending or pausing counselling, for example if I believe that the service I am able to provide is no longer appropriate for your needs. Where possible, I will discuss this with you and consider appropriate next steps.
Professional boundaries
The counselling relationship is a professional therapeutic relationship.
Contact outside sessions will generally be limited to practical matters such as arranging or changing appointments.
Further information about boundaries, communication between sessions and our respective responsibilities will be included in the counselling agreement.
Website information and social media
Information provided on The Listening Booth website or social media is intended for general information and psychoeducation only.
It is not a substitute for individual counselling, psychological or medical assessment, diagnosis, treatment or other professional advice.
Reading information on the website, following The Listening Booth on social media, submitting an enquiry or booking an initial consultation does not in itself create an ongoing counsellor-client relationship.
Privacy and cookies
Your personal information will be handled in accordance with The Listening Booth's Privacy Policy.
Information about cookies and similar technologies used on this website can be found in the Cookie Policy.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with any aspect of the service you receive, I would encourage you to raise this with me where you feel able to do so.
The Listening Booth has a separate Complaints Procedure, which explains how concerns and complaints will be handled.
As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I work within the BACP Ethical Framework.
Changes to these terms
I may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes to The Listening Booth's services, working practices or relevant legal and professional requirements.
The most recent version will always be available on this website.
